Cliff Lake trip report

On Friday August 15 Brinci and I went on her first backpacking trip.  The trip actually started the night before with a lot of packing.  She and I went over everything we needed and accounted for all of our equipment.

At 3pm on Friday, I came home from work, we finalized a few things and off we went.

When we reached the trail head we put our packs on and took a picture to scare Min.

Brinci led us out and set a very good pace.  We past a few small lakes along the way and hit a very big hill.  This would be her first test.  She marched right up the hill stopping only once for a rest.  Soon we were on top and within view of the lake that was to be our destination.

When we arrived and found a suitable camping place we set up our tent.  Brinci was a ton of help and even pounded in a few of the tent stakes.  We then set out to find some firewood and built a very nice fire.

Our dinner consisted of a mac and cheese Mountain House.  I was initially very apprehensive about having the mac and cheese flavor, but I now think it is my favorite.

Following dinner we set out to explore the surroundings and capture some photographs.  Before we knew it, it was time to go to bed.  We laid down for bed about 9:30 and Brinci talked non-stop until around 11:15 pm at which time she drifted to sleep.  I really enjoyed listening to her talk to me and found her to be quite witty.

We woke up around 6am in the morning and took down the tent.  Or at least I took down the tent.  Brinci was having a ball taking pictures and really took some good ones and took some funny videos as well.

Our breakfast was a peach pudding Mountain House which is on my never buy again list as I thought it really tasted terrible.  Brinci agreed but ate anyway and we headed down the mountain to our car.

We had a tremendously fun time.  It was great to backpack with my daughter and I look forward to many more such outings.
