Week in Blackfoot
Ok, so I realize this is really really late, but better late than never I always heard! Our week started out Sunday July 20 after church. We came home, grabbed a bite to eat, packed the car and got on the road. We were only 30 min. later than we wanted to be!! I thought that was pretty good. So we are going down the road and the kids want to watch a movie so I pulled out the extra batteries for their headphones that I was so proud of remembering, only to see that they were the wrong size!! So I juggled some of them around and they had enough juice in them that way to last the 4 hrs. to Blackfoot! I don’t know how we would survive that drive without movies anymore. We definitely are spoiled. We get to Blackfoot just in time to eat. We had a wonderful meal of Mongolian BarB-Q. It was a tradition when Grandpa was alive to have Mongolian BBQ every 4th of July so it was really fun to have that again, and remember all the good memories. Dad and Wade were the grillers this time though! Thanx guys for the super good food. We ate and chatted and had a good time with everyone. Chris, Danielle, Cade, Jonathan, Kimberli, Austin, Porter, Jarett, Brendan, Wade, Grandma Cox, and of course Dad and Mom. It’s always good to see everyone and chat and of course eat!
After dinner the Williams boys stuck around for a camp-out with my kids. We set up the sleeping bags (thanks Jonathan for your donation of a sleeping bag for me and the kids!) and settled in for the night. Jer and Wade decided they wanted to sleep one more night in a soft bed so they didn’t join us. We slept really well considering how many young kids were out there! There was a lot of snoring, but other than that, good times. The best part of the night was the bedtime stories they told. Those kids have quite the imagination. Gage decided he wanted to scream at about 4:00, so I snuck in the house, fixed him and was able to say goodbye to Jer before he left for his hike. Chris came and got Jer and Wade at 5 and by then I was too awake to sleep, so I helped my mom clean up a bit. It was really fun to talk with her.
When the kids finally woke up, we made them some pancakes for breakfast and then they played. Grandma found them a fun craft to do and the spent the next hour making suncatchers. Then we had lunch and Kimberli came to pick up her boys. That night we had Great Grandma Cox over for dinner. It was really good to see her and to see how my parents are helping take care of her. I so love family! We were missing Jer but hoping that he was having fun.
The next day I got up early and ran. For some reason it is really hard for me to run when I’m in Blackfoot. I don’t know if it’s the late nights, all the food I eat, or what it is but I managed to go 4 miles. I was afraid it was going to rain and that was as far as I wanted to get out if it did! We had breakfast and then a phone call came in from Jer. They had spent the night wet under a tree (they had decided to go without tents, silly boys) and were coming home. It made the kids really happy! We set up the slip and slide that day and the kids had a lot of fun playing on that. Jer came home and told us all about their hike. It sounded like lots of fun, until the thunder and lightning! The kids still wanted to spend the night at Austin, Porter, and Jarett’s, so we took them out there and then headed back to Mom and Dad’s. It was kinda weird being there without the kids (we still had Gage) but it was fun. Jer and I watched a few movies with our extra time!
On Wednesday we weren’t sure what we were going to do with ourselves. We decided to go out to Kimberli’s as soon as we could and then Jer was going to do some work out there. When we got to Kimberli’s they were heading out to Grandma Cox’s to do some mowing so we walked down with them. The kids played downstairs and Gage and I chatted with Grandma. I felt bad with pregnant Kimberli out on the mower and me inside, but they had one of those tricky lawn mowers and I would have for sure run over something. When we were done we went back to Kimberli’s and had lunch. The kids got in the pool and then we went to Rupes for dinner and went to watch Austin play soccer. It was a really fun day,
Thursday we hung out with BreAnne. We went to the mall and bought some stuff at the distribution center. Then Jer worked for a while as Gage slept and Bre, Brinci, Toby, and I went to the park. It was a really cute park. It was really hot and the kids got done really soon so we went back to Bre’s apartment and watched a movie. That night when Cameron got home we went to Golden Corral for dinner. I really liked going there cuz there was a lot of options for Gage! He even ate a strawberry which I’ve been trying to get him to eat all summer. Bre had a friend that she thought would get along well with Dave, so he came up that night and went out with us. We all stuffed ourselves and then we went miniature golfing. The golf place was really cool. It was a black light lit place and the balls glowed and all the things for the holes glowed. It was really neat. The kids loved it! It was a late night for Gage, but over all, we had a blast.
Friday was the start of the George Family Reunion. We went out to Kimberli’s so the kids to could all play. Jess came with her kids and it was fun to see her. We went to the cemetery and saw the Navy headstone for Grandpa and then we went out to Uncle Craigs for dinner. It was a lot of fun to see all the cousins and to catch up with everyone. It’s amazing how fast all the kids grow when you only see them once a year! We had root beer floats and then headed back to Mom and Dad’s for sleeping.
Saturday we went back out to Craig and Lynette’s for breakfast. It was a good spread and I was able to find something for all the kids to eat. It’s really nice that my older 2 aren’t so picky anymore. After breakfast we walked down to Grandpa George’s house. The sisters had spent a week going through the house and finding things they could give to the grandkids. Brinci was loving it! I was able to find some pretty jewelry and Jer made off with most of Grandpa’s shirts. It’s kind of weird seeing him in shirts that I remember Grandpa wearing, but he loves it! We found some stuff for all the kids then we went out to the lake. It was a lot of fun. The big kids went on the boat and Brinci even went out on the Hot Dog. Gage really enjoyed splashing in the water. We had pictures and dinner at Jonathan and Kimberli’s then we had the infamous talent show. Uncle Mike did a great job M.C.’ing the show and a lot of funny things happened. Between all the funny readings mom had found from Grandpa’s stash, to Kyle laughing before he finally sang I Love to See the Temple, but the best thing that happened was Devin Meanea doing his impersonation of Old Faithful! I’ve never seen anybody throw-up that much! It was really horrific. We then had to come home which is always sad. It was a great week and we are looking forward to when we can all get together again!
