Saving Gas
So we decided to bite the bullet and buy a bike trailer to hopefully save some gas on our short advetures. So today was our maiden voyage with it. I was able to get the trailer all put together, I just couldn’t figure out how to attatch it to my bike. Jer came home and helped me figure it out (ok so he just did the whole thing!) and then there was a clicking sound on my bike when it was in 1st gear so Jer worked on that for a while. He got it fixed and the kids and I headed to the grocery store. Toby is still a bit nervous about riding on the main roads so I promised him there weren’t going to be to many cars. As soon as we crossed the bridge on over on the other side of the road, two cars were trying to pass us. We had to pull over to the side and let them go! It was crazy. Anyway, we made it to the grocery store and as I always do, I bought way to much stuff. (good thing I didn’t get that watermelon that I wanted!) we found places for all the groceries and I thought I was going to topple over cuz my backpack was so heavy. We headed home and made it to the church parking lot before we had a mishap. Toby likes to stop in the middle of the sidewalk and look at things. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be a problem but since I’m still trying to learn how to ride a bike, had a huge pack on my shoulders, and learning how to maneuver a bike trailer, I had a hard time slowing down gracefully! I kinda wish someone would have been following with a video camera, we probably could have earned some money on that one! Luckily no one was hurt and nothing got damaged, but it was pretty tricky. We made it the rest of the way home and the kids agreed that it was pretty fun going on bike rides that way. So now I really need to make sure we use the bikes, not just the cool new car!
