Bart Kunz reunion in full swing...
The Bart Kunz reunion is now in session. Min, Emily, the kids and I arrived in Star Valley at approximately 8pm Friday night. We’ve had a wonderful time so far.
Friday
We arrived. We ate some lasagna late when we got here, settled down and went to bed.
Saturday
The day began with a breakfast of “Dutch Babies”. The kids love these. After this, we got ready and headed up...

Posting from an iPod
Well, this is a post from my Dad’s iPod Touch. I’m a bit jealous!
August Recap
I made it through August running 100 miles. Once again, I didn’t go over the century mark until the last run of the month. Quite frankly, I knew the summer months would be the most difficult to reach my goal on due to hectic schedules. August was no exception. I didn’t get to get a single run in on a Saturday so I had to make the most of the week day runs. I’m looking...
Chris wins over Gus
Gus really took a shinning to Chris while he was here. In fact, when Chris and Chan were about to leave, Gus had to give him a big hug.
1st Grade Report
Since there has been some interest in how Brinci is doing in 1st grade we decided to do a report on the blog so everyone could see it. Here are her words: I like getting school lunch. I like to do math. I like to read Amelia Bedelia. Some of my friends are Sarah, Elise, Isabelle, and Miss Keyes! Matthew, in my class, has glasses just like me.
Brinci asked me yesterday why she couldn’t...
Cliff Lake trip report
On Friday August 15 Brinci and I went on her first backpacking trip. The trip actually started the night before with a lot of packing. She and I went over everything we needed and accounted for all of our equipment.
At 3pm on Friday, I came home from work, we finalized a few things and off we went.
When we reached the trail head we put our packs on and took a picture to scare Min.
Brinci...
Happy/Sad Day
Well, it’s finally here. The day I’ve been dreading for 2 years now. Brinci is officially started going to school ALL DAY LONG!!!! I am really struggling with this concept. I hope that as they year goes on I will come to grips with it. I am excited to have a routine and to get Toby back to quiet time! That will be fun, but no Brinci for a whole day has us all a little sad. She is...
Cliff Lake backpacking trip top photo
After looking at all of the photos and videos (89 in total) from Brinci and my backpacking trip, I’ve selected my favorite photo. The story behind this photo is even more impressive than the actual photo itself, which isn’t bad.
I was making breakfast, Brinci had just shot some video of me stirring the meal and she had done her tongue star trick when she thought she saw a beautiful...

Kings Peak in 12 hours
After a long day at Bear Lake (it was a blast!) Chris and I went to Kings Peak to try to fast hike the highest peak in Utah.
Kings Peak at 13,528 feet in elevation is quite a popular destination for backpackers and a small number of day hikers. I have hiked Kings Peak a half a dozen times, the last time being last August with Mike Brown of the WBR fame. (Flickr photo stream) We did it in 3 days...
Summer Activities
Since I’ve been such a slacker on this the past month, I’ve decided to just describe all the fun things we did this summer. On July 17th we took the kids to Lagoon. We left Gage home but the others went. Brinci had a fun time on all the roller coasters. That girl has no fear on things like that. We made a big mistake with Toby and had him ride the Tidal Wave very first so he had a...
The Fast Hiker
Brinci and went on our first backpacking trip together. Here is one of the videos of that trip. More will come as soon as I’m done processing everything.
1000 miles...
January 1 2008 I set a couple of running goals.
Run at least 1500 miles in 2008.
Run 100 miles each month.
I’m not there yet, but today I passed a pretty big (for me) milestone. 1000 miles! I’m on pace for my goals.
Here is a little screenshot from my running log software:
Week in Blackfoot
Ok, so I realize this is really really late, but better late than never I always heard! Our week started out Sunday July 20 after church. We came home, grabbed a bite to eat, packed the car and got on the road. We were only 30 min. later than we wanted to be!! I thought that was pretty good. So we are going down the road and the kids want to watch a movie so I pulled out the extra batteries for...
Bald Mountain
Toby and I have been planning a little hike. We weren’t planning on going very far during this hike, just something to give him a taste of it. So in planning where we were going to go, I mentioned we could climb part way up Bald mountain if he would like. Without hesitation, he selected that option.
Bald Mountain is a peak in the Uintas that is 11,943 feet in elevation, the trail is 2...
