FHE 06/30
Last week Brinci gave our FHE lesson. She did a tremendous job and that sort of got the ball rolling for Toby. Following his sister’s example, he gave tonight’s lesson. He did a great job and used the GAK as visual aids. We were proud of him. After his lesson, we went and delivered home made get well cards the kids had worked on during the day to a few people who haven’t...

Total Mileage on runningahead.com
I use runningahead.com to log my runs and workouts. I’ve been doing so for sometime now and truly enjoy the service being provided. One of the features I enjoy is the summations that are provided. I have had a goal to run at least 100 miles in each month for 2008. June was a hard month to do that in as I had to taper for the race. Today being the last day of the month, I made it.
Here...
Ragnarly Race
Finally a race report from Jeremy. I had hoped to wait until we had compiled all of our pictures before doing this, but the memories are getting old so I thought I’d better do it now while I can still write half truths. After a while, my stories embellish themselves to the point that you can’t really tell what actually happened. I get this disorder from my Father genetically and...
The Kunz Car Wash
A few weeks ago we were in WalMart and our kids saw some baseball mitts. They talked us into buying them but being the cheap people we are, they couldn’t just get them, they had to earn them. So we decided that they needed to do an extra chore to earn their mitts. They washed the Jeep today and finally got their baseball mitts.
They were funny about the cold water we used to wash the car...
Future WBRacer
So Brinci has been hit by the running bug. On Monday I decided to walk for a bit on the treadmill while Gage was asleep and when I was done the kids asked if they could walk too. Brinci went first for a little while and then decided she was done and Toby got on for a bit. Well when Toby decided he was done, Brinci wanted to give it another go. She ran/walked for 1 mile. She thought she was the...
New running partner...
I have a new running partner named Garmin. Monday I bought a Forerunner 205. I bought it from MegaGPS a Utah based company. The good thing about it is that I bought it on Monday and it delivered using regular shipping on Tuesday!
My first run with it was yesterday, it was a nice easy 5 mile run with a 2 mile tempo workout in the middle. I loved being able to keep me on pace with the GPS. As...
FHE
Last week after our FHE lesson Brinci decided she wanted to do the next one. So this week she picked out a picture out of the GAK and read the back of it to us and bore her testimony of the things she read. I was very happy with how she wanted to do the lesson, and how she carried it out all on her own. She is getting to be a great reader and she loves to read things to us. I hope she will always...
Wasatch Back is FINISHED!!!
So the fun started at 9:40 A.M. Steve (aka Speedo) was our first runner and he blew it out of the park! I was the #2 runner and I seriously thought I was going to lose my breakfast. I hadn’t raced since High School and I was having a real hard time. I had butterflies in my stomach until about a mile into my 6.7 mile run. I then calmed down and finished my run in better time than I...
WBR 2009 Countdown
Okay, I’ve got the countdown widget ready for Wasatch Back Relay 2009. It can be downloaded here. This is only applicable to Mac OS X. It will need to be unzipped. One thing that we don’t know yet is our actual start time, I’ve used our 2008 time of 9:40. That may change.
Here is a screen shot:
Toby got burned today...
Earlier this evening Min was making some dinner, she pulled a pan out of the oven and Toby leaned into it. He didn’t seem to be aware of the fact that he burned himself bad enough to blister. He didn’t cry, and was rather put out by the fact that we made him cool it down in the water. For those with strong stomachs, the picture is here:

Gage's first steps...
Gage is learning to walk. He’ll take a few steps and then do a belly flop onto the ground. He was doing quite well taking more steps than we’ve recorded, then once we pulled out the camera he was tired. Anyway, here is some video of his attempts. Near the end of the video he does better.
We made it!
We finished the Wasatch Back Relay. This isn’t the run report, that will come along later, but we finished and are happy to have done so. Min and I both felt very good about our performance and are eagerly looking forward to improving next year. (Yes, we are already registered for next year.)
As soon as I get pictures gathered, I’ll post an actual race report.
End of the World?
So we have been referring to things this past week as “this is the last time before the race!” Does that mean that the world is going to end when the Wasatch Back Relay is over? Will life continue as we know it, or will it be some alter universe we are going to be catapulted into? We have been thinking and dreading this week for a year now so it’s going to be interesting to see...
Toby riding his bike
Each night we are attempting to spend the last part of the evening prior to bed time doing something with our kids. Two nights ago we played soccer, last night we went for a bike ride. I took this picture of Toby silhouetted by the sun.

Gage’s hair is turning more and more blonde…
Toby walking on the tree
I’m not too good at keeping noise out of black and white photos, but I love their effect. This was one of the photos we took on Saturday. (Flickr photo page)

Wow. I guess my groin isn’t such a hurdle!
First run since my strained muscle
I ran 5 miles today. It was the first run I’ve had since Thursday when I had a little injury. The run went well, I felt some minor discomfort in the area, but nothing to alarm or surprise me. I kept my pace down, I was around 8:30/mile, so a full minute lower than I’m hoping to run this weekend.
After the run I realized I didn’t bring any supplies to help me ice down. I...
Fathers Day
Min told me on Saturday that I may not notice any difference in how I’m treated on Fathers Day as I’m treated as if every day is Fathers Day. Fair enough, I am treated way too well and I know it. However, on Fathers Day, they proceeded to treat me as if it were Kings Day and I the King.
The day started out with a nice egg breakfast, the eggs were sunny-side up and cooked to...
A pretty fun day so far
We’ve had a pretty good day so far. The day begun with Min getting in a 5 mile run. I wish I too would have been able to run, but I’m taking it easy until Monday due to my slight injury.
After breakfast, and doing a few odds and ends around the house we went to run errands on our bikes. We began by going to Dick’s drive-inn for ice cream (we had coupons). Brinci and Toby had...
Wasatch Back Relay
For your viewing pleasure today I’ve posted a few videos of the Wasatch Back Relay we’ll be running next week at this time. Actually, at this time Min should be done with all three of her legs!
Saving Gas
So we decided to bite the bullet and buy a bike trailer to hopefully save some gas on our short advetures. So today was our maiden voyage with it. I was able to get the trailer all put together, I just couldn’t figure out how to attatch it to my bike. Jer came home and helped me figure it out (ok so he just did the whole thing!) and then there was a clicking sound on my bike when it was in...
A fun night with Toby
Last night Toby and I had the opportunity to spend a bit of time together. Emily had scheduled me to go to the WBR team captains meeting since she is out of town and so I decided to take Toby.
Travel, Shopping, and Dinner: Toby and I started out by leaving at 4ish from Kamas. Our first stop was at Shopko to pick up a bike trailer for Gus. While there Toby and I wandered the store and had a good...
Friday the 13th
Maybe it is an unlucky day. I’ve had what feels like a bit of a groin strain/pull. Just my luck, 7 days until the big race and I’m worried about a possible injury. I’ll go light on it for a few days and see what happens.
800 miles
This morning’s run put me over 800 miles for the year so far. I think that this is the shortest period of time it has taken me to hit 800 miles in my life.
On a side note, it was a day of milestones as I also hit 400 miles on the pair of shoes I was running in. I believe they are about to retire.
Summer's Here?
So the forecast called for snow last night, I didn’t think that it would actually do it. I woke up this morning to a pretty dark sky but no wind and no rain. I decided to do my run indoors, just in case. I started questioning my decision about halfway through and looked out the window. I watched as the blizzard swirled around the grass! I knew then that I had made a good decision. So...

Blog Status
I’ve got this blog setup now on my own domain. This blog is powered by tumblr which I’m quite pleased with. We (Melinda and I) participate in another blog setup by my sister Emily and we’ll continue to do so, but we’ll also cross post here anything that gets put in the other blog as it isn’t a public blog.
Good Day
Today was a pretty good day. I ended up playing with the kids instead of doing my house work! I think they enjoyed it and I certainly did. I’m getting a bit weepy thinking about my baby being 1 already. I’ve decided that I need to spend a few minutes everyday doing something WITH the kids and not just BY them!
FHE at Darcy's House
It was a hot dog roast!
We had a blast. It was good to see everyone. To top things off, Min and I went on a motorcycle ride around both the lower and upper loops in Marion.
2nd Monday of the Month
Every second Monday of the Month a group of use get together for dinner and FHE. It is a good opportunity to be able spend time with family and enjoy a good meal. Tonight’s venue is Vera and Darcy’s home.
Due to the good weather, I’m betting/hoping that we have a hot dog roast!
